You Only Live Twice

Plot

You Only Live Twice Film Poster - AllPosters.com

World War Three? Could it happen? If SPECTRE's most audacious, and dangerous plan up to this point is not stopped, it seems to be a certainty. James Bond returns again to investigate the disappearance of a US spacecraft - while in the middle of flight!

James Bond: Why do Chinese girls taste different from all other girls?
Ling: You think we better, huh?
James Bond: No, just different. Like Peking duck is different from Russian Caviar. But I love them both.

From the exotic volcanoes of Japan to the mysterious depths of Outer Space, the action and adventure never ceases as 007 must find out why spacecraft are disappearing in mid-flight and whom is behind it. The fate of several countries is held in the balance...

James Bond...dies? It all appears so when he is quickly shot and taken dead. However, it is all a trick set up by his superiors in order to give him a little more room and help on his next assignment. As M says, it’s the big one. Bond is sent to Tokyo where he must meet up with Dikko Henderson and find out who has taken the American spacecraft. A Soviet spacecraft is set to launch soon and Bond must move fast. His later search takes him to Mr. Osato and Helga Brandt, both of whom are soon realized to be villains when they try to take his life several times in the film.

Tiger Tanaka: It can save your life, this cigarette.
James Bond: You sound like a commercial.

Bond also meets up with Tiger Tanaka and Aki in Japan, who both assist him throughout his mission. It is later revealed in that SPECTRE is indeed the culprit, with mastermind Ernst Stavro Blofeld orchestrating it all. Later on the Soviet spacecraft is captured, with the US and Soviet Union now pointing fingers at eachother.

Bond later makes several quick escapes, as Helga Brandt is killed by Blofeld for her inept tries at assassinating Bond. Aki is sadly also killed by a SPECTRE henchman as she sleeps next to Bond during one night. Later on Bond becomes Japanese and takes a wife in Kissy Suzuki, who helps him as he moves toward the SPECTRE volcano base. Eventually with the help of Tanaka's men they break into the base as Bond finally meets with Blofeld one on one, face to face. Osato is later killed as the SPECTRE spacecraft closes in on capturing a second American craft.

Blofeld: Kill Bond! Now!

The mission is a success for Bond when he kills Blofeld's bodyguard Hans, destroys the SPECTRE spaceship, and escapes with Tanaka and Kissy. Blofeld however, escapes...

Quotes

Blofeld: The firing power inside my crater is enough to annihilate a small army. You can watch it all on TV. It’s the last program you’re likely to see.
James Bond: Well, if I’m going to be forced to watch television, may I smoke?
Blofeld: Yes. Give him his cigarettes. It won’t be the nicotine that kills you, Mr. Bond.
